A trivia quiz that grades, teaches and rewards

Quiz your community on your game's lore, your product's docs, or any body of knowledge. Subo tells members right or wrong on the spot after every question, then rewards everyone who passes with an achievement.

What it showcases

Features most survey bots don't have

Automatic grading

Every question carries a correct answer. Subo grades each response and tallies the score, with no answer key, counting, or spreadsheet.

💬

It teaches as it tests

Right/wrong feedback appears the instant a member answers, so a quiz becomes a mini lesson instead of a silent form.

🏅

An achievement for passers

A give-achievement action fires automatically the moment a member clears the pass bar, so the reward lands in the same flow with no mod checking results. On Discord, an achievement can also unlock a role.

🔒

Self-serve gate

Leave it open as a permanent gate: passing earns an achievement that can unlock a members-only or advanced channel on Discord.

Worked example This template comes with a The Legend of Zelda example so you can see exactly how it plays. Edit the questions and content to make it your own.

Whenever you have a body of knowledge and want to find out (or reward) who actually knows it, this quiz grades every answer, teaches as it goes, and acts on the result automatically.

Use it for game lore and canon, a new patch’s mechanics, your product’s docs, server rules, a study set, or onboarding material. Members answer, Subo tells them right or wrong on the spot after each question, and anyone who clears the pass bar earns an achievement they can’t get any other way.

Better than a plain quiz bot

A typical quiz bot just counts answers. Subo grades them, teaches through the per-answer feedback, and then acts: the achievement is granted automatically, in the same flow, with no mod checking a spreadsheet. Write the “wrong answer” feedback to explain the correct answer and every miss becomes a teaching moment instead of a dead end.

The example runs five questions on The Legend of Zelda and passes at four out of five. Change the subject, the questions, the pass bar, and the reward to fit your community.

Variants

  • Certification or onboarding quiz: the same quiz over your product docs or policy, with a “Certified” achievement for anyone who passes.
  • Server-rules gate: three to five questions on the rules, with a “Verified” achievement that unlocks the server through a linked Discord role.
  • Harder questions worth more: weight tougher questions higher and reward XP proportional to the total.
  • Study set with retakes: allow unlimited attempts so members can drill until they pass.
How to run it

Live in a few minutes

  1. 1

    Clone and write your questions

Swap in your subject and questions, and mark the correct answer on each one.

  2. 2

    Write feedback that teaches

Fill in the right and wrong message for each question so a wrong answer explains the correct one instead of just saying 'wrong'.

  3. 3

Set the pass bar and the reward

Choose how many correct answers count as a pass, and pick the achievement to award (create one like 'Loremaster' first). On Discord you can link it to a role as well.

  4. 4

    Publish

Members take it in Discord or on the web, get instant feedback per answer, see their score, and earn the achievement automatically if they pass.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I have to use the Zelda questions?

No. The Legend of Zelda questions are just an example so you can see how the quiz works. Edit them to cover your own game, your product's docs, or your server rules.

What's the difference between this and a personality quiz?

This is a knowledge quiz: each question has a correct answer and a pass threshold. For opinion or personality quizzes, where there's no right answer and you sort people into houses or types, use a sorting-quiz template instead.

Can I use it for onboarding or certification?

Yes. Run the same quiz over your product docs or policies and grant a 'Certified' achievement when someone passes. It also works as a friendly rules check for new members.

Can members retake it?

Allow multiple attempts and members can drill until they pass. The achievement is granted once per person even across retakes.

What do winners get?

Passing grants an achievement, which works on any community whether it's on Discord or the web. On a Discord server you can link that achievement to a role that unlocks a channel, but the role is optional.
